What does our honeymoon registry cost?
|
Your out-of-pocket costs for a registry with TheBigDay are, well, zero!
There's no signup or setup charge for your registry, and your personal wedding web page is free.
Actually, the list of free stuff goes on and on, and in the unlikely event that none of your guests
contribute to your registry, please just consider the web page, etc., to be our wedding gifts to you.
We simply deduct a 7% service charge from the total of your guests' cash contributions.
This fee covers the hosting of your registry, all of the features and services we provide, including live support 5 days a week
via phone, email, and instant messenger for you, and also for any of your wedding guests who wish to purchase a gift for you over the phone.
If you arrange your travel
through TheBigDay travel specialists you may be eligible for a discount on your service fee as well.
Guests who purchase gifts from your registry will be charged a nominal 3% transaction fee.
This cost covers the merchant credit card transaction fees charged to us by the bank,
the credit card company, and the credit card processing company.
Couples have the opportunity to receive up to 3 electronic transfers or 1 paper check as payment from their registry.
We recommend one payment a week or so before the wedding date,
one a few days after the wedding, and a third payment two weeks after the wedding to cover any late gift givers. Of course, you can change
the dates as you see fit.
Electronic transfers can be done via PayPal, or if you have a U.S. bank account, via direct deposit (also known as ACH).
You tell us how you'd like to be paid--we can pay you via Paypal, electronic funds transfer, or mail you one check.

| Will I be required to pay a fee to my agent for assistance with my travel reservations? |
Generally no, but there are a few exceptions.
Some trip planning requires in-depth, dedicated planning by your travel specialist,
and may require a prepaid, non refundable consulting fee.
This fee may be applied toward your travel purchase.
Ask your travel specialist for details.

|
| Will I be charged a fee for my airline reservations? |

| What's the free wedding web page all about? |
What better way to inform wedding guests about all your wedding details,
particularly if they are coming from out of town? We offer this feature free to couples who
create registries at our website, and you can use our photos or upload your own.
You can even list your other wedding registries and web sites here, and link to these
and your registry at TheBigDay.
A wedding web page is an especially graceful way to share plans and direct your guests to your registry wish list.
We offer a premium wedding web page service in addition to our free one-page site. Our premium wedding websites
are priced at $99 for 12 months, or $9.95 per month, and include:

| Can we link to our registry from our own web page? |
If you've got your own wedding web page elsewhere, you can easily link directly to your honeymoon registry at TheBigDay, so that
your guests can click from your wedding web page and go directly to your registry, without having to come to the site
and search by name.
When you log in to your registry, click the Registry tab and look for the link that says See our tips on linking to your registry. There's
great information there about how to link to your registry (including your own direct link), plus a selection of graphics
you can use for your link.

|
| How do we spread the word about our registry? |
TheBigDay makes it easy to get the word out:
- Tell your immediate family--especially the maid of honor and your mothers. These are the
people that the wedding guests will call to find out where you're registered.
- Use your wedding web page--you can tell your wedding guests about
your web page without implying that they should buy you a gift, since it's where you share information
about how you met, details of the ceremony and reception, etc.
Those who are going to get you a wedding gift will find your registries on the web page.
- Email your guests--use our email postcard to send links to your registry or your wedding
web page to your guests.
- Print your own wedding web page or registry announcement cards.
They're free, and you can include them in your invitations if you like, or have them at your bridal shower. It's a good idea to give them to your
immediate family so they remember where you're registered when wedding guests call them.

|
| Can we have other gift registries? |
Absolutely. Many couples have traditional registries and use their honeymoon registry as a complement to these.
Then, on their wedding web page, they list and link to all their registries and guests can choose
the option they prefer. And you can definitely include anything from digital cameras to
bird-watching binoculars in your honeymoon registry.
We even had one couple list their fishing licenses!
When you're creative with your wish list, your guests have even more fun "shopping" for you.

|
| How long will our registry stay open? |
We automatically keep your registry open until 6 months after the wedding date. After this time,
people will not be able to find your registry by searching for it by your names, however, you can
log in to your registry at any time before or beyond that date to check your thank-you notes list, etc.
If you'd like your registry closed sooner, please call or email us.

What happens to our personal information?
|
We are completely committed to protecting your privacy and that of your wedding guests. (See our Privacy Policy for full details.)
TheBigDay does not sell your personal information, nor will we share it with other parties except where necessary to book your travel for you.
If you have questions as you're creating your registry, click on the Help me link.
It takes you to a page that explains why the information is being collected and how it's going to be used.
Additionally, we employ the services of ScanAlert's HackerSafe, who test our site daily for over 6,000 potential
security problems.

|
Is it safe to pay with a credit card?
|
Using a credit card at TheBigDay is completely safe and secure.
For starters, all credit card information we receive is protected by SSL, the encryption technique used by the majority of e-commerce web sites and online banking sites.
Secondly, we do not store credit card numbers in our database. So, even if someone could hack through our very tight security,
your credit card number is not at risk. Even our own employees cannot see your credit card number.
When a gift is purchased, the credit card account is charged immediately, and only the last four
digits are recorded in our database. (That helps us identify the card used in case the buyer has questions later.)

security problems.

| Where does the gift money go? |
When your guest buys you a gift, we charge their credit card, and the money is
deposited in our Holding Account at our bank. This is a special account which we use only for
safekeeping your money. We never "borrow" from this account, nor do we pay bills or payroll from
it.
The money remains in our Holding Account until we pay the wedding couple the money for their gifts. Then and only
then do we transfer the service charge portion of the gift to our general checking account.
|

|
| How do we receive the money from our gifts? |
We give you the opportunity to receive up to 3 electronic payments or 1 paper check, and you get to specify the dates of your payments.
You can choose to get paid one of three ways:
- Electronic funds transfer from our Umpqua Bank account into
your bank account (it's similar to a payroll direct deposit) Note: available for banks in the U.S. only.
- PayPal
- 1 paper check via regular mail service
For fraud prevention purposes, we release funds to you for gifts after a 3-day waiting period.
This allows us time to be notified of stolen credit cards and other problems (yes, it's actually happened to us...and we did catch it in time!).
If you schedule a payment by electronic funds transfer, our bank doesn't do payment transfers on weekends or holidays.
Our bank's cutoff for that night's payments is 4:00PM Pacific time--we generally get each day's payments entered into their system
by noon, to be on the safe side.
While we do employ over 60 fraud-screening checks in our payment process, it's extremely important that you give us correct
bank information or PayPal account information, otherwise someone else's account might get a nice surprise!

|
| What happens if our wedding is cancelled or postponed? |
If your wedding is postponed, we recommend that you log into your account and update
your honeymoon date to your "best guess" at when it will occur.
Our dynamic checklist creates reminders and planning tips based upon when we think your wedding is going
to happen, so keeping us up-to-date means that the checklist will do a better job at helping you manage your wedding planning.
If your wedding is cancelled and we've already sent you the funds for your gifts, then it's
up to you to return any gift money to your friends and family. For gifts where
we have not yet sent you the money, just contact us and we'll reverse the charges
on all of your guests' credit cards at no cost to you or your guests.
Note: if you've already made your travel arrangements, you'll need to speak to
your travel provider to cancel your arrangements. Sometimes there will be cancellation
fees for hotels, airlines, or packaged tours.

|
| Why don't wedding guests just send us cash? |
Some of your guests probably will, and that's ok too. But many people would rather have something
that feels more personal and more specific. Giving a gift of, say, a snorkel trip,
or perhaps a night's lodging at your resort is more memorable than
being just another one of 50 people who all sent cash for whatever you decide to spend it on.
Your wedding guests want to get you something special you'll remember forever.

| What do past customers of TheBigDay have to say? |
Of course, our wedding couples love our service, as we're helping them get gifts that they
really want--and have the honeymoon of their dreams! But the wedding guests love our service as
well. It's easy and convenient, and they give a gift that they'll be remembered for.

|
| Can several wedding guests pitch in and buy one gift? |
We often have groups of guests purchase a gift together.
We only request that they use one credit card for the purchase.
We're glad to put as many names as they wish on the gift card.
They just need to type in everyone's names--the printed gift card,
the thank-you notes list, and the e-mail announcement will all have everyone's names on them.

|
| How will we know if a gift has been bought for us? |
When someone buys an item from your registry, we immediately send an e-mail confirmation to both you and the gift giver.
And remember, you can go online anytime to check your registry and see what's been bought for you.
Note: the gift-giver has the option of making your gift a "surprise", in which case we don't send the
wedding couple an email right away. The item still gets marked off the registry (so it's not bought twice), but the
wedding couple can't see who bought it or what the message was in their Thank-You Notes list until the date
specified by the wedding guest.
